Notes - "Joseph Gebhard was born in Silverhausen Kries Muehlhausen Province, Saxony, Germany, on Jan. 14, 1842. When ten years old he emigrated to America by way of St. Louis, arriving at New Vienna July 1, 1852. In 1867 on Nov. 20 he married Clara Ramm at New Vienna. They moved to a farm at Petersburg. He held the office of Treasurer of Colony Township for 26 years. He was assessor for eight years. He died at his son, John B. Gebhard's home in Dyersville, Iowa. Other children were Anna (Mrs. Peter Weber) of Barney, North Dakota; Joseph of Oliva, Minnesota; Catherine (Mrs. Frank Weber) of Dyersville; and Theresia Gebhard of Dyersville."
