Mary Elizabeth Mock was born in Geneseo, Illinois on 8 Jan 1860 and came to Newbury, Kansas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mock. She was married to Joseph Schmitz in 1885 and seven children were born to them. Leo, William, and Lawrence and Mrs. G. W. Quinlan, Margaret, Mary, and Elenora, all of whom survive her. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. J. W. Zeller, Mrs. George Schilling, and Miss Paulina Mock and four brothers, Valentine, William, James and John Mock.
She died very suddenly on 20 April of paralysis and her funeral was held last Thursday morning from Sacred heart Church at Newbury. It was largely attended, among the relatives being, Mrs. Mary A. Schmitz and son, Alphonse of Odebolt, Iowa, Ben Schmitz of Osmond, NE, Mrs. G. W. Quinlan of Seneca, Kansas, and her stepson Frank Schmitz of Wamego. We desire to extend our sincere thanks to all the friends and neighbors for their kindness following the death of our dear mother.
