Joseph Stoeber, who left Remsen about seven years ago to live in the Old Folks Home in Dubuque, Ia., died on Monday evening, July 24 at the age of 77 years. Joseph Stoeber was born in Silberhausen, Province of Saxony, Germany, in January 5, 1934. He came to America in 1856, and settled in Lancaster, Wis., until 1865, when he moved to Delaware county, Iowa, and in 1890 he came to Plymouth county, where he was successful as a farmer and well respected as a citizen and neighbor. His wife (Margaretha) preceded him in death ten years ago. There are six children living; George, Kate, Joseph, Sophie, Clara, and Henry. One brother, Adam Stoeber, resides in Remsen, and is 85 years old.
A Former Resident of Delaware County Passed Away In Dubuque
Mr. Joseph Stoeber, who formerly resided near Petersburg and for the past seven years made his home in Dubuque, passed away last week, July 24, 1911 at the age of seventy seven years, death being due to old age.
Mr. Stoeber was a resident of Delaware county for twenty-five years, when he moved to Remsen and lived there until seven years ago. Deceased was a native of Silberhausen, Province of Saxony, Germany. (Joseph Stoeber and Margaretha Meinhart married on December 7, 1858 in New Vienna, Iowa.) His wife preceded him to the grave ten years ago. Those surviving are his six children, George, Mrs. Barney (Kate) Mai, Joseph, Mrs. Henry (Sophia) Bunkers, Mrs. Ed (Clara) Fiegen, and Henry, also one brother Adam Stoeber, who resides at Remsen. The Funeral was held in Dubuque and burial took place in the cemetery nearby, it being the request of the deceased
